EJC 2008: Germany vs. Finland

The first game of the championship played at San Pablo's Sportscenter faced up Germany to Finland during Seville's hot evening. The game started very closed until the end of the first quarter, where the power german rushing attack scored its first touchdown. Germany's rushes were unstoppable during all game for the finnish defense, as proof of it the MVP of the game was Samuel Shannon (#32), Germany's main running back, who accomplished 2 rushing touchdowns.
In the second quarter the finnish ofense could score tying the game 7 - 7. Finland's quarterback had to rush out from the pocket several times due to germany's blitzes and the gaps made by the defensive line. Later in the quarter, Germany played a perfect playaction getting into the end zone because of Finland's defense attention to the run. Finland couldn't seize a good field position as Germany's linebacker #52 made a great interception.
In the second half, the heat, finnish injuries and Germany's tremendous rushing game sentenced the game to a 34 - 7 for Germany. With it, Germany is presented as one of the favourites for the final.
