EFAF Board of Directors and SAJL have signed a contract about hosting and organizing the European Championship Seniors 2005 at Helsinki.

We will provide the tournament regulations and entry documents soon. To give everybody some advance information I mail you some part of the application document from SAJL.

SENIOR FLAG EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2005

HELSINKI, FINLAND

-September 16th to 18th 2005 -


1) PRESENTATION

The application is that the European Championships for Senior Flag would be held in Helsinki from September 16th to September 18th 2005. Helsinki is the capital city of Finland with good international connections both by air and by sea.

Teams will have to arrive before 18.00 on the Friday September 16th and leave on Sunday September 18th in the afternoon after the competition. Rooms need to be checked-out before noon on Sunday.

The competition will be played on one and half day (saturday and sunday morning).
Two (2) tournaments will be played :
- Men 5 vs 5
- Women 5 vs 5

Each team will be composed of a maximum of 10 players, 2 coaches and 1 referee
All other people will have to pay for their own accommodation and costs. SAJL LOC will be happy to help in reservations if so needed.

3) PLANNED LODGING AND MEALS

All the teams (staff and players) as well as referees will be lodged at Helsinki area hotels. Hotels will depend on participating nations as with more teams more than one hotel may be needed. We have made pre-reservations in 2 hotels to guarantee the space for more teams participating than in previous years. Delegates of each nation and EFAF will be lodged in adequate hotels in Helsinki. All hotels are chosen to be inside 15 minutes transportation from game venue.

Breakfasts are served on Saturday and Sunday at the hotels, lunches will be served on the game venue while Friday and Saturday night dinners are at the hotel.

4) RESERVED FIELDS

All the games will be played at the Käpylä Velodrome in Helsinki, nearby to all lodging places.
The competitions will be played on both grass and artificial grass fields, including a 5.000 seats Velodrome field for the finals on Sunday.

Practices for Teams in the afternoon
Technical meetings with coaches and captains (at night)

Groups Games for the tournaments (all day)

Finals Games for the tournaments (morning)

6) PLANNED FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

Entry Fee
The Entry Fee is :
- TBA Euros for the MEN TOURNAMENT
- TBA Euros for the WOMEN TOURNAMENT

Lodging and Meals
The Participation Cost is : 2.400 Euros per Team. This includes for 13 people:
(10 players, 2 staff, 1 ref)
- Friday dinner
- Friday night lodging
- Saturday breakfast
- Saturday lunch
- Saturday dinner
- Saturday night lodging
- Sunday breakfast
- Sunday lunch (after party)
- Transportations from airport/harbour to hotel and back as well as from hotel to game venue and back.

Teams can arrive before the tournament and leave later but they will have to pay the extra costs of lodging and food. Same applies to extra persons as well.

Transportation
All participating teams will have to pay for their own transportation to Helsinki, Finland. Teams travelling by train, boat or plane that have informed of their arrival and departure times in due time prior to the tournament, will have transportation to and from airport/harbor to hotel.
The Helsinki-Vantaa international airport is only 30 minutes away from lodging and game facilities.
