At Gentofte Stadium the junior national teams of Denmark and Finland played their qualifying match for the upcoming European Junior Championships. Despite the cold weather of a chilly early-spring day 600 Danish enthusiasts proudly showed off the Danish national colours of red and white in the stands and helped the home team in a convincing 27-6 victory.

The Danes went ahead early in the first quarter and scored through Kristian Wredstrøm. Finland came back in the second quarter led by strong quarterback Kimi Linnainmaa, who sneaked into the endzone. However the game could not be tied by the road team, as the snap was mishandled before the potential PAT.

After the halftime intermission the Danes remained in power and again it was Wredstrøm with a 40 yard rush to score a touchdown. The game was decided, when receiver Phillip Holm Boye caught a pass for the 20-6 score and his defensive teammate intercepted a Finnish pass play shortly afterwards. In the fourth quarter Finland's last hope faded, when the team was stopped at their own 35 yard line. Danish receiver Peter Juel Hobitz added another touchdown on a five yard pass play to put the score to 27-6.

"It was a great game," Denmark's head coach Lars Carlsen stated. "The guys showed that all the hard training and the preparation paid off. I'm proud of their performance. The fans gave us great support and provided a real party atmosphere that inspired us."
