Spain a strong applicant to host the 2011 European Junior Championships.

The Spanish Federation of American Football (AEFA) has applied to host the next European Junior Championships. The EFAF Board of Directrors is strongly considering awarding the hosting rights to Spain, but no contract has yet been signed.

The games would be played in the summer of 2011 in Réus, about 100 kilometres from Barcelona. The plan has the home field of the Réus Imperials, the Estádio Municipal de Réus as the main venue for the games. The stadium has the capacity of 5 500 spectators.

The tournament will consist of six teams placed in two groups. The finalists from the 2008 EJC, Germany and Sweden qualify automatically, as does the host nation. The three other teams will be the winners of the three qualification pools.

The organization committee already has plans for televising the tournament as well as for a wide coverage on the internet.

The 2008 EJC was held in Sevilla, Spain, and the tournament drew praise from everyone involved.
