Miraval appointed as Technical Director

IFAF Europe has appointed Paul-Vincent Miraval as Technical Director.

The 51-year old Frenchman will oversee IFAF Europe's activities regarding European competitions and especially will focus on developmental activities like coaches or players education. Miraval looks back on a successful career as a player and a coach in France. In the late 80's he was a member of Les Argonautes d'Aix-en-Provence, playing in both offensive and defensive lines and performing as a linebacker and running back as well. National championships in 1990 and 1991 as a player were followed by four more national titles in 1992, 1995, 1998 and 1999, when Miraval had turned to coaching. From 1994 to 2000 he held the head coaching spot in an era, in which the club was France's team to beat year by year.

As Miraval, who is married and has two children, always had a special interest in the developmental work needed to build long-term-successful football programs, it was just a logical consequence he accepted the French federation's call to become the Technical Advisor and Head Coach of the junior national team in 2000. Again it was a matter of years, until success started rolling in, with the French winning European Junior Championships in 2004 and 2006.

Shortly after these championships, with which the concepts he successfully invented for his national youth developmental programs back in France bore fruit, he more and more set his focus in spreading the word about American football throughout Europe. Realising that the key for development is to assist coaches and players hands-on in their every-day practice routines, he started traveling to a lot of European regions, where American football was just developing, conducting not only clinics on site, but also building long-term relationships with coaches from all around Europe, the U.S. and also of course Canada, where he once served as running backs coach for Laval Rouge et Or at Quebec City.

His appointment as Technical Director by the IFAF Europe Managing Committee secures profound knowledge for Europe's governing body of American football. Miraval and IFAF Europe are especially destined to enhance co-operation with federations all over the world in terms of youth player development, coaching development programs and also in the education of officiating personnel.
